Cricket Australia Probes Glenn Maxwell’s Hospitalization in Adelaide: Alcohol-Related Incident Under Investigation

Cricket Australia Launches Investigation into Glenn Maxwell’s Hospitalization Following Alcohol-Related Incident

Cricket Australia is currently probing an incident involving star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was reportedly hospitalized after an alcohol-related incident in Adelaide. The incident comes after the conclusion of Melbourne Stars’ Big Bash League (BBL) campaign, during which Maxwell had been in Adelaide for a celebrity golf event.

Maxwell’s absence from Australia’s ODI squad facing the West Indies next month has been confirmed, although Cricket Australia emphasizes that this decision is unrelated to the recent incident. The 35-year-old, who briefly visited a pub in Adelaide where Brett Lee was performing with his band Six and Out, was subsequently taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Reports indicate that Maxwell did not spend the night at the facility.

The circumstances leading to Maxwell’s hospitalization remain undisclosed, prompting Cricket Australia to seek further information. In an official statement, Cricket Australia stated, “It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan.” Maxwell is expected to return for the three-match T20I series against the West Indies after the ODI rubber.
