Cracking the Code: India’s Unbeatable Home Record in Test Cricket Since 2013

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and cricketer Ramiz Raja declared the daunting challenge of defeating India in their home turf after their convincing victory over Australia in Delhi in February 2023, allowing India to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series.

India’s stronghold in Test cricket at home has made them an almost unbeatable force, evident in their undefeated streak across 14 Test series and two standalone Tests, including victories against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. In these 14 series, India achieved an impressive record of winning 36 Tests, drawing 7, and losing only 3.

The statistics underline India’s dominance in Test series at home since 2013, winning all 16 series played, with a perfect win-loss record. In a total of 46 Tests, India won 36, lost 3, and drew 7, maintaining a remarkable win percentage of 76.26%.

While teams like Australia and England have secured Test victories against India in the past decade, they have struggled to achieve success more than once in a Test series since 2013. Notably, India has lost only three Tests during this period.

Reflecting on the last team to defeat India in a Test series on home soil, Graeme Swann, part of the England squad in 2012, highlighted the significance of overcoming the formidable Indian team in their own conditions. He emphasized the need for strategic changes in facing spin bowling and suggested a renewed approach to beat India, considering their virtual invincibility at home since the 2012 defeat.
